Originally from Boulder, Colorado, Grant grew up in the basements of restaurants; inspired by the collaborative art in a kitchen, he began to take up filmmaking in the eighth grade.

His first exposure to 'cinematography' was after he was assigned the role on a music video project while a freshman at the Denver School of the Arts high school. He had found his calling.

Over the next three years, he shot as many student films as possible, enough to build up a portfolio to apply to the prestigious University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he joined a family of incredibly talented DPs whom he still creates with today.

Grant is well-versed in multiple cinematographic styles and formats, including shooting 16mm film, a process which he absolutely loves.

He is currently pursuing a BFA in cinematography at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts Conservatory, class of 2025.
